Early voting for the Nov. 3 general and special elections started Monday, Oct. 19, and runs through Friday, Oct. 30. Lubbock County uses vote centers, which means registered voters in the county can vote at any location, not only one near home.

What to bring

That includes a Texas driver’s license, Texas election identification certificate, Texas personal ID card, Texas handgun license, U.S. military ID card with your photo, U.S. citizenship certificate with your photo or a U.S. passport. If you don’t have one and can’t reasonably get one, you can sign a declaration and show a supporting document such as a utility bill or bank statement with your name and address. VoteTexas.gov has the full rules.

What’s on the ballot

Lubbock County voters will choose a governor, lieutenant governor, U.S. senator and a representative for Texas’ 19th Congressional District, along with other state and local races. You can look up your exact sample ballot at votelubbock.gov before you go, so there are no surprises in the booth.

Tips for a quick trip

  • Lines are usually shortest mid-morning and early afternoon on weekdays, and longest on the last day of early voting.
  • You can bring notes or a marked sample ballot into the booth, but you can’t use your phone there.
